TOKYO, Japan, September 16, 2022 ― Renesas Electronics Corporation (TSE: 6723), a premier supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions, today announced that the company has been included in the indices “FTSE4Good Index Series” (Note 1), “FTSE Blossom Japan Index” (Note 2) and “FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index” (Note 3) for the first time. These indices reflect the performance of companies that demonstrate outstanding Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices.
The three indices are provided by FTSE Russell, a subsidiary of the London Stock Exchange Group, and used by a wide variety of market participants to create and assess responsible investment funds and other products. The FTSE4Good Index Series consists of global companies that conduct exceptional ESG practices. The FTSE Blossom Japan Index and FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index focus on Japanese companies in terms of ESG performance. These two indices are adopted as benchmarks by the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF), one of the world’s largest pension funds.
Renesas has been selected as a constituent for various indices, such as U.S. firm MCSI’s “MSCI Japan Empowering Women Index,” recognizing companies that promote gender diversity. Additionally, Renesas began to identify material issues of the year, such as climate change. This led to Renesas’ greenhouse emission gas reduction targets being certified by Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
